What Do I Do With Unwanted Beauty Samples II: Support A Cause

Today’s edition of What Do I Do with Unwanted Beauty Samples? includes an interview with Beauty Bus Foundation. This awesome place will accept your unused beauty products and use them for good.
Please let us a bit about your foundation and its mission.
The Beauty Bus Foundation was founded in loving memory of Melissa Marantz Nealy who lost her battle with a degenerative neuromuscular disease at the age of 28. Melissa was a girly-girl who loved a good day at the spa. When her ability to leave the home became compromised, Co-Founder Alicia Marantz Liotta, Melissa’s cousin, was able to schedule in-home beauty services through her connections within the beauty industry. Witnessing the hope, happiness and respite these services brought to Melissa, Alicia and Co-Founder Wendy Marantz Levine, Melissa’s sister, were inspired to launch Beauty Bus Foundation to bring the same lift and gift of beauty to others.
Beauty Bus Foundation delivers dignity, hope and respite to chronically or terminally ill men, women and children and their caregivers through beauty and grooming services and pampering products.
Beauty Bus accomplishes our mission through:
- In-Home Beauty and Grooming Services: Beauty Bus’ core program provides in-home beauty and grooming services, free of charge, to patients whose illness or condition prevents them from accessing a salon or spa and their caregivers.
- Pop-Up Salons: Beauty Bus creates Pop-Up Salons where patients and caregivers receive a variety of complimentary beauty and grooming services in a setting that promotes support and serenity.
- Bag of Beauty Program: Beauty Bus gives complimentary Bags of Beauty filled with pampering products to remind patients and caregivers that they deserve to look and feel beautiful.
As beauty box subscribers, we often have a lot of samples or trial size items. Does Beauty Bus accept smaller items or only full-size products?
We accept both trial size and full size product. Due to our clients compromised immune systems, all donations must be in new, unused and unopened condition. A full list of accepted donations can be found at http://www.beautybus.org/donate/products-and-supplies/
Are there any items you won’t take?
We do not accept used or gently used products. We also cannot accept chemical treatments, razors, or oral care products.
What should we know about shipping cosmetics?
Shipping certain cosmetics will require you to ship via ground mail. For example, nail polishes and aerosols will require special packaging and labeling. Pack wisely – use bubble wrap and soft surfaces to shield products from being damaged during shipment. Beauty Bus does not cover the cost of shipping. If a shipment is large enough that it needs a palette, we can accept it but will request inside delivery.
Where can we mail our beauty products and find you online?
Please ship to our office – 2716 Ocean Park Blvd. #1062, Santa Monica, CA 90405. Our website is www.beautybus.org.
Thanks to Elizabeth for the great interview! Next time you are swimming in samples, consider donating them to a worthy cause.
