The StudioWedBox Interview

What made you decide to start a subscription box service?

Nicole and Ian Riley  (owners of StudioWed and Verge Events) have been working in the wedding industry for over 10 years and noticed that something was missing.  Every bride can tell you that there is a plethora of wedding products out there and it can seem extremely overwhelming.  However, delivering hand picked items to a bride’s front door was something that we could do! Sharing the knowledge that we have gained throughout these years and hand-picking the items that go in the box is just a small way for us to help brides get excited for the wedding day all while helping them along the way!

How did you choose your subscription niche?

We felt that there was something missing in the market.  The StudioWed team has had many years of experience and between all of us, we could create an innovative fun wedding box for couples-to-be.  Just as we have hand-picked the best wedding vendors in each market for our studios, we have now put together the best items that a couple would need or want to know about in planning their wedding.  Also, what makes us different from the other subscription boxes is that we want to guide these couples through the planning process all while providing them the best products in the industry!  What’s important to us is the planning process.  It’s what we know best, and where are area of expertise is.  Once getting engaged, many couples have no idea where to start and we can help!  Whether they live in a market where there is a StudioWed, or through a StudioWedBox, couples know they can count on StudioWed as a resource for them to use through the planning process.

Do you work out of your home or an offsite location?

We work offsite.  It’s always nice to leave home and arrive at a comfortable office space with your colleagues whom you can bounce ideas off of.  I personally feel that getting up in the morning, dressing nice and arriving to your office helps me work more diligently.  However, if one us needs to work from home (or the beach) that day we can do that too!

Getting Closer....

Getting Closer….

Do you handle all of your business operations yourself or have employees?

StudioWedBox is a start up within an existing brand.  Our parent company is a franchise called StudioWed.  We do have bricks and mortar locations in Asheville NC, Atlanta GA, Nashville TN and Denver CO.  On the StudioWedBox Team we have myself, Brittany Ghio, Nicole and Ian Riley, and the other studio owners, all experts in their market. The culture of the brand is what keeps us grounded and always a reminder of how we do business.  Not only do we work as a team and have a really good time, all divisions of StudioWed are really supportive of each other and we truly are a family.

How do you source the products that will be included each month?

Since the team has so much experience in weddings we can really use our experience to pick the best products in the wedding industry! We have a ton of tips and ideas that most wouldn’t really think of until actually being immersed in this market.  We have a great group of creative partners and they are constantly growing.  You can check them out on our website! www.studiowedbox.com

What would you change if you had to start over?

Is it too corny to say nothing? I think this entire experience has been a learning process.  Yes, we have encountered some hurdles, but when we do we figure it out, and usually the outcome turns out even better then what we were planning.  We have dived right in to grow this concept that we believe in and are truly excited about!

StudioWedBox September Review

This box contained the following:

  • May Books Wedding Planner –  This planner is so cute and useful! There are pages to track your wedding budget, important dates, checklists, notes and more.
  • Serenity + Scott Makeup Brush
  • Bling Wipes – keep your jewelry clean on the go
  • Solemates High Heelers  – Well file this under “Things You Didn’t Know You Needed Until You Saw It.” I need these! These cool little gadgets slip over the heel of your shoe to prevent you from sinking into damp or loose soil. I was married outdoors so I can appreciate the importance of something so simple!

Also included with every StudioWedBox are wedding planning tips. This month’s pointers were on choosing your “wedding team.”

What a fun box! It reminds me how much fun it was planning my Big Day and how those little things can be the most exciting.
