We have been a gluten free household for several months now. When I heard about Send Me Gluten Free, a new gluten free subscription box, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.

What made you decide to start a subscription box service?
I decided to create Send Me Gluten Free to help people have access to more gluten free products than what is offered in their local stores. I often hear that people are tired of wasting money on gluten free products that they don’t like. Send Me Gluten Free allows folks to try numerous products, receive coupons and have exposure to brands they might not have otherwise, so they can make an educated purchase at the store or online. Our hope is that they find a new favorite brand or product that they may not have known about.
How did you choose your subscription niche?
I already connect gluten free brands with consumers through a tour of consumer expos (The Gluten & Allergen Free Expos) each year and a restaurant-finder app (Find Me Gluten Free) and this was just a natural extension of our Expos. I like to think of Send Me Gluten Free as an Expo in a Box – lots of gluten free products and coupons all in one place.
How long did it take between idea and official launch?
It took approximately 6 months from the time we had the idea to our first shipment.
How do you source the products that will be included each month?
We source the products from our friends at the gluten free companies that we work with for our Expos. We ensure each product is gluten free by requiring each brand to submit proof of gluten free certification or third-party testing to the FDA standard of less than 20 ppm
What was your biggest surprise – good or bad – with your new business?
I was shocked to learn what goes into actually making a printed box. My tour of the box manufacturing warehouse was amazing. I never really thought about how boxes are made, but it turns out it is a fairly complex process to get a branded box.
What would you change if you had to start over?
I wish there was a really great program to help with online monthly subscription orders. I didn’t realize how the online shopping carts really don’t work well with renewal type programs.
Where do you see your business five years from now?
Five years from now, I see Send Me Gluten Free as a mainstream brand in most gluten free households.

This box was big and heavy – my favorite kind of subscription box! I was so excited to open it as we are still so new to what the gluten free market has to offer.
This box had so many great goodies inside. And not just snacks! There were plenty of drinks and entrees to try as well.
Explore Asian Organic Black Bean Spaghetti – One of the biggest adjusts for me going gluten free is the loss of noodles. I do a lot of freezer cooking and making large meals for leftovers. You don’t realize how much of a “filler” noodles and pastas are in your meal planning. Therefore, I’m excited to try these. Black bean and water are the only two ingredients. They are high in fiber and protein as well.
TeeChia Sustained Energy Cereal in Blueberry Date – I really liked this. You don’t have to eat it as a cereal or oatmeal either. There are also recipes for energy balls, put it on yogurt, add it to smoothies and more.
Sevierly Good Gluten Free Organic Brownie Mix – I’m saving these for the weekend. The only additional ingredients needed are eggs or egg substitute and oil. I love the bit of additional flavor coconut oil lends to brownies, so I’ll definitely be going that route.
Teechino Dandelion Dark Roast is a coffee alternative.
Surf Sweets are gummy hearts made from organic fruit juice and fortified with Vitamin C.
Raw Rev 100 Spirulina Dream – I had to look up the ingredients for this one as I didn’t see it on the package; Cashews, Dates, Agave Nectar, Almonds, Spirulina Powder, Sprouted Flax Seed. These are just “fun size” bars with 100 calories.
NOW Real Tea in Better Off Red – As the name suggests this is an organic blend with red rooibos and vanilla citrus blush. I am a huge tea drinker. Thank you!
Juice Plus+ Chewables – I have heard a lot about this company. I’m excited to finally try some of their products.
Red Apple Lipstick – This company makes gluten free makeup. This Rallye Balm is supposed to end chapped lips in 7 days. This company has also been mentioned in Women’s Health Magazine.
Holy smokes that was a big box! And the fun doesn’t end there. There were also coupons and literature included. Score!
