Posh Pet Review, Interview & Coupon
It’s not too often that Motley gets mail, so he was very excited when Posh Pet Box offered to send him a box to review and sit down with us by email for an interview. Please take a minute to find out the story behind this new pet box, then read on for the review and a special discount.
Posh Pet Box Interview
What made you decide to start a subscription box service?
Last year, I underwent life threatening surgery that required me to take a leave of absence from my teaching career. (I am a former band director!) While I was recovering, my pug Zoe was instrumental in my rehabilitation! Through the extended walks, trips to the dog park, my relationship with her quickened my recovery and ability to move forward. Therefore, I created Posh Pet Box, as a way to spoil her and every dog that provides love to their pet parents!
How did you choose your subscription niche?
When I decided to do a subscription, I knew that there were other companies out there doing the same thing. Therefore, I underwent extensive research to determine where I could enter with a different, yet interesting niche to attract subscribers. I love to beautify my dog, and make her pretty, in addition to finding any shampoo to make her shed less! Therefore, I decided to focus on beauty and grooming.
Do you work out of your home or an offsite location?
Both. Posh Pet Box and all the planning, selecting, designing and preparing takes place in my home office. For shipping and order fulfillment, we operate outside of a offsite location to ensure that the boxes are perfectly packaged and shipped!
How long did it take between idea and official launch?
Between idea and our official launch (April 18, 2014), the process took me three and a half months.
How will you source the products that will be included each month?
Posh Pet Box will use a combination of distributors and individual product partners. For this initial launch phase, we planned out our boxes for the next eight months, plus addition surprise products!
What marketing avenues do you use to get the word out? Any memorable successes or failures?
Within the metro Atlanta area, we have been reaching out to the many dog clubs that meetup in our area, and partnering with many of the natural pet stores in the area. A memorable success is the Posh Pet Team going to a popular dog park giving out treats to unsuspecting pet parents! We got so much interest from those pet parents that is gave us a much needed boost that we are moving in the right direction.
What was your biggest surprise – good or bad – with your new business?
The biggest surprise with my new business is that 1) Pet parents LOVE the idea! Honestly, my biggest hurdle launching Posh Pet Box was that people would get the idea, or even be interested in participating 2) Planning is the key. There are many pieces to the puzzle of putting together a subscription box company, so don’t take any area for granted, or you will lose subscribers!
What would you change if you had to start over?
Don’t wait until you have your website before going out to build your email list. Build the interest from the beginning, so that you’ll have an audience ready and waiting for your box to come out!
Where do you see your business five years from now?
In five years, Posh Pet Box will have at least 10,000 subscribers, and we will be making the push to be the leader in our subscription niche! We are very excited to what the future holds!
Posh Pet Box Review
The box was very large and packed well. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was happily surprised.

Inside I we found:
Melia Brown and Tan Ceramic Bowl – Very cute! We had a large one of these for Motley’s water. This little one will be great for his wet food at supper.
Dog Chewz NYC Bacon Parmesan Treats – We only feed our dog grain-free these days. These contain no wheat, corn, soy, salt, sugar or artificial ingredients. They were a hit. They are also small enough for training treats.
Whole Life Pure Chicken Liver – When I set the box down for Motley, I thought he was going for the above Dog Chewz NYC Treats. I was wrong. He was trying to get these. He loved them.
Green Tea & Bergamont Condition and Spritzer – Doggie deodorant! We definitely need that.
Farmer’s Barket Sweet Tater Chow Chips – These were another item he attempted to pick up and walk off with. These high fiber chips are made from organic sweet potatoes and flax seeds. Three flavors were included.

Motley doesn’t like getting his picture taken, so this is as good as it gets. He loved his Posh Pet Box and thinks you should probably get one for your dog, too.
