Plum Deluxe Review: Loose Tea Subscription

I love tea. I drink it daily and am always trying new blends and flavors. I don’t like it sweetened and I prefer it iced, but I really love some of the new fruity, floral blends available.
Plum Deluxe is a company offering loose tea. They also have a Tea of the Month subscription featuring certified organic, fair trade small-batch blends.
Two subscription plans are available.
- One Tea per Month: $10 per month – Includes 1 oz of a featured blend (makes 15-20 cups), 15% savings on tea accessories, free shipping on teas & tea bags, and access to a members-only community
- Two Teas per Month: $18 per month – Includes 1 oz of two featured blends (makes 30-40 cups total), 15% savings on tea accessories, free shipping on tea & tea bags, and access to a members-only community
The company sent over a One Tea per Month shipment for me to sample. The bag arrived in a cute muslin bag. The tea was nice and “chunky” as it should be. You don’t want a powdery dry tea. You should be able to see what’s in there.
I received Oregon Breakfast Blend. This blend is a black tea with hazelnut and orange. The hazelnut made it a little sweeter than I prefer, but it had a nice rich flavor.
The cost is in line with most specialty blends. Since the price per ounce is the same for both regular customers ($7 per ounce plus $3 S&H) and subscribers ($10 per month), I would like to see a little more offered to subscribers. Even if it was throwing in a few free brewing bags a month it may be enough to sway me to subscribe over just buying the flavors I am interested in. That or maybe two or three smaller samples to try instead of one big one. After all, what happens if you don’t care for the monthly feature? And that will happen from time to time.
If you are a tea lover like myself, give Plum Deluxe a try. It’s a good high-quality tea.
Have you tried Plum Deluxe? What did you think?
