January Julep Maven Review: The Chrysalis Collection
I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my January Julep Maven box. As is now the case with all Mavens, I had the opportunity to customize my box. I picked up several goodies, including three Add-Ons which earned me a free surprise gift.

This was a nicely packed box, as always. The first thing I spot are Junior Mints, one of my favorites! Yummy. No. That’s not my free gift. We always get some candy.

Glycolic Hand Scrub – This was my free gift for ordering three Add-Ons. I’m really excited about this product as I hadn’t tried it before. (I believe this one has been replaced with the new Brilliance Scrub.) It leaves your hands super soft. It has just the right amount of scrub, too – not too abrasive.
Orbital Eyeshadow in Borealis – This was one of my Add-On items. This color is new. It’s a charcoal grey with “peacock pearlescence.” It’s definitely a show-stopper. I go bold with my eyeshadow frequently. This one will get used often.
Janae Nail Polish – This was one of the new Chrysalis colors. It’s a charcoal grey – definitely a color I’ll wear.
Luna Nail Polish – Light blue duochrome with jagged cut glitter. I’m really bummed about this one as this appears to be a glitter that doesn’t lay flat. That drives me nuts. I inevitably pick those pieces off. The color’s nice though!
Tilda Nail Color – This is one of the new monochrome top coats and was another free gift. Wear it alone or over the top of another color. On top of Janae it looks green.

Luxe Lip Treatment – Sheer Pink – This was a new release for January. Available in four colors, I choose the sheer pink which has barely any color but a lot of shine. This is a very nice gloss! Not sticky at all. It has great moisture and the cool metal applicator is supposed to increase circulation.
Festival of Lights Trio – This was an Add-On. It was a holiday fave and priced super cheap during the Maven Selection Window. It includes three colors; Missy, Nicolette and Monaco.
Holographic Chevron Nail Decals – I love nail decals. These holographic ones were new.
With the exception of Luna, which I’m still undecided on, I’m super happy with this box. I skipped the past several months, something available to all Mavens again, so it was nice to stock up on supplies and new colors. I paid $51.96 for the above box ($24.99 for the base box, plus three Add-Ons and two free gifts). My total box value was just under $150. I can’t complain about that!
