January Birchbox Review: Gym Bag Beauty Essentials

My Birchbox FINALLY arrived this weekend. Shipping was crazy-slow this month. It wasn’t much of an issue because it wasn’t as if I was waiting by the mailbox for my Birchbox this month. The program as a whole has been disappointing the past two months.

If you are currently a Birchbox subscriber, you know we’ve had the option to choose a sample the past few months. Or at least sent an email saying we could choose a sample. Even though I am an Ace, and even though I’m in front of my email all day long, the selections have been out of stock by the time I get there (within mere minutes of receiving the email). And that’s for both the men’s and women’s boxes.

So, January began on the wrong foot. And February’s off to the same start as I was again handed out of stock selections for my husband’s box as well. I am not holding out much hope for the upcoming women’s selection window either. Please excuse my tone if I’m not as excited as usual.

Klorane Dry Shampoo – I was excited to receive this product as I’m trying to stop shampooing daily. It’s hard! I like clean hair. This dry shampoo is working well so far. No white residue.

Aqua Reveal Satin Bright Water Peel for Face – What I was supposed to receive was the Water Peel for Body. Bummer.

Coastal Scents Palette – I love Coastal Scents eye shadows, so I won’t complain about this one.

Whish Body Butter – Thank goodness this isn’t the shave cream. I’ll take the lotion even though this is a brand I have seen at least half a dozen times in the past year.

Coola After-Sun Lotion – This is the fourth tube of this I have received in the past six months. It’s January in Nebraska. Sunburn cream? Really?

Box value: Good.

Customer Experience: Poor.

Birchbox is still a great box for the $10 price tag. I just hope we see a turnaround in the current setup soon. And some new brands!
