I am so excited about today's post because today's featured ingredients is known for not only its calming properties but it is also a common ingredient in anti-aging and moisturizing skin care products. We are making what I have dubbed Franki's Famous Face Cream.
Our show-stopper today is Frankincense essential oil. You may recognize the name. This is one of the twelve oils of the Bible.

Frankincense can help improve your skin’s tone and overall condition. You can apply a few drops straight to the face as a sort of toner (that’s a great idea, too – combine with a little witch hazel for a DIY toner). We are mixing it up with a few other ingredients for use as a night cream.

Franki’s Famous Face Cream

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 c. coconut oil
  • 1/4 c. olive oil
  • 5 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops Frankincense essential oil

Mix this up for about 3 minutes in a blender and store in a pretty glass jar. I will keep mine by my bedside table for applying at night (lavender is a great oil to use before bed). Mix up a larger batch if you like. This also makes for a great body butter, foot cream or gifting item.

Don’t fear coconut oil! Seriously. This is such a universal oil we buy it by the quart jar. It absorbs quickly into the skin and you can even use it as a makeup remover/moisturizer if you feel the need to wipe it off.

You can go with coconut oil only but I like mine a little easier to work with. The olive oil will keep it from solidifying completely. And remember, your oils need to be unrefined, pure and virgin.

You have to stick around because I have even more Frankincense recipes coming at you soon. Please share yours in the comments!
