Birchbox Haul & Anniversary Bonus Box Review

Earlier this week Birchbox announced a special bonus box in celebration of their fourth anniversary. As I needed to pick up a few things over at the shop anyway, I jumped at the chance for a few extra freebies. I landed quite the haul for just $25 this week!

Birchbox Haul September

To get the Anniversary Box free, you had to spend $50 on full-size items from the shop. No biggie. I needed a few things, had some Birchbox points (the #1 reason to become a Birchbox subscriber) and that also meant I could get a mystery sample pack free as well (always free with a $35+ purchase).

I needed some new CC cream so I picked out the Yes to Grapefruit CC Cream. It’s lightweight, all natural and SPF 18. Some people complain about the scent, but I don’t mind it. I’ve certainly smelled worse! I opted for the Light shade and it matches my skin tone perfectly and blends in easily. Price: $15.99

Next up I needed cleanser. I am always on the lookout for blemish control products. Juice Beauty is another ingredient-conscious brand and this Organics to Clear Skin kit was a great value. It included full-size versions of the Blemish Clearing Cleanser, Blemish Clearing Serum, Oil-Free Moisturizer (I’ve used this in the past), a bamboo washcloth and a Green Apple Peel. I’m really excited to try this peel as it is supposed to even discoloration. Price: $39

My first freebie was the Mystery Sample Pack. You can purchase this one for $10 or get it free with any $35 purchase. Mine included a good size bottle of DDF Ultra Lite Oil-Free Moisturizing Dew. It’s a good product. I’ve received it in the past. It’s a little too dewy for my taste however. Value: $25

I also received a sample of Obliphika Treatment Shampoo. Value: $2

I also picked up the Anniversary Box free since I spent over $50 on the CC Cream and Cleansing Kit. This box was samples from past boxes. Mine included Whish Shave Cream in Grapefruit, Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser, LAQA Lip Lube and OFRA Eyebrow Pencil. The OFRA pencil was the only item new to me. Unfortunately the only item I will be keeping is the shave cream. BUT, this was a great value freebie. Value: $35

Birchbox Anniversary Bonus Box

The approximate value of this Birchbox haul was around $117. I get free shipping as an Aces VIP (someone earning 500+ points in a year). I got both the mystery pack and the anniversary box free. I also used 300 points on this order.

If you are unfamiliar with Birchbox points you earn 10 points for each review plus 1 point for every $1 spent on a full-size item purchase. You can also refer friends, sign up for a sub and more for additional points. 100 points equals $10 off any full-size purchase. That means I got $30 off this purchase bringing my total down to only $24.99!

Birchbox is the gift that keeps on giving. I earned 24 future points for this purchase (my total was $24.99 after points and coupons). I can also leave reviews on the CC Cream, cleansing kit and mystery sample pack for an additional 30 points.

The anniversary box is only available for a little time. Use code BONUSBOX at checkout.
