Beauty Benefits of Honey + DIY Recipes

In our recent DIY series, I have shared my love of many “pantry remedies” from coconut oil to coffee grounds. Today we are talking about honey.

Honey is considered a superfood. It’s been highly regarded for its medicinal powers for thousands of years. Its antiseptic, antibacterial properties make it a great home remedy for everything from cuts to the common cold.

There are also many beauty benefits of honey. It is moisturizing, clarifying and high in antioxidants. As long as you don’t have any allergies, it can be a great product to start incorporating into your beauty routine starting today.

Honey Cinnamon Cleanser

You take some honey (enough to apply on your face) and you mix it with a tablespoon of cinnamon. Then you apply to the face. Best used in the shower for easy application. The mixture leaves your face feeling the warmth and when you rinse it off it gives you the most amazing feeling skin and it truly helps with your complexion and breakouts. Hair Treatment

Add 1 teaspoon of honey to your favorite shampoo to give it a moisture boost. Honey also strengthens the hair follicle after a hard week of blow dryers and flat irons. ~ Jami Svay, celebrity makeup artist

Banish Blemishes

If a blemish pops up in the middle of the day, don’t stress. “A big bump on your face can make you feel unattractive and want to hide for days, but there is a solution! Applying a dab of honey and fresh lemon juice to your pimple greatly reduces the swelling and kills the bacteria, causing the pimple to go down and even disappear in minutes in some cases,” suggests Ariana Pierce, CEO of Superstar Nail Lacquer.

Hand Treatment

One of my Fav ways to exfoliate and brighten the back of your hands is with honey! Take a drop and work it into the back of your hands in tight, circular motions. Let sit for up to 30 min and rinse with tight circular motions. ~ Kim, Kim Laudati Skin Care

DIY Honey Exfoliator

Mix equal parts honey and either coconut oil or baking soda for a quick and easy skin exfoliator.

And don’t forget how great honey is internally. Save the bees!
