So here is my review for the New Beauty Test Tube I got a couple of weeks ago! No I didn’t forget about it…I just had a little extra help on this one. I decided to put a little spin on it and asked a friend to review it and then we could compare our results! It actually was pretty interesting to see what we both liked, didn’t like and what we mutually agreed was something we probably wouldn’t reuse. For this review, I decided to highlight our top 3 favorite from the box and interestingly enough we didn’t have the same top 3!
I recruited my friend Jennifer and she was a perfect candidate to try all the products for a couple reasons …she’s honest and because she’s a product/makeup minimalist which typically translates to choosing quality over quantity. She’s new to the New Beauty Test Tube itself and once she opened it and saw everything that came with it I immediately got a text that said “I love this New Beauty Test Tube!!! I’m like a kid on Christmas!” so it’s safe to say she was having a great time reviewing everything for this review. Below is her review of her favorite 3 and what she had to say:
“It was super fun trying out all the products in my most recent New Beauty Test Tube! My top 3 favorites were not what I expected to have chosen because I wouldn’t typically gravitate toward those products. I was pleasantly surprised after trying everything.”
“Dermaquest Essential B5 Hydrating Serum : How many serums can you possibly own? Most of us have all “been there, done that” when it comes to serums but this Dermaquest Hydrating Serum is fabulous! My skin is typically on the dryer side. As soon as I put it on I instantly felt a cool, refreshing sensation. The products scent was appealing as well…not too potent. After using the product my face instantly looked fresher and less dry. Plus it didn’t leave a residue on my skin.”
“GrandeNaturals-Grande MiniLips : My friends are always telling me how lucky I am to have naturally plump, full lips. I’ve never had the need to purchase collagen-boosting lip products, but I seriously enjoyed this product!!! It is super glossy and looked great on. It stayed glossy for hours unlike my typically gloss which needs reapplied practically every hour. I even loved the slight ‘tingling’ after it was applied in the first five minutes. My husband even noticed my lips and gave me a compliment. It has a natural, glossy look and made my already plump lips look even plumper.”
“Macadamia Natural Oil Flawless Cleansing Conditioner : It seems like I get “stuck” in my shampoo/conditioner routine. After trying various expensive brands I finally settle on a combo that works for me and I stick with it for years! I would never have thought to try this product had it not been for Test Tube but I love it! I have thick, long hair that tends to get slightly frizzy in the humidity. It was quick and easy to apply and lather up. It left my hair feeling and looking clean, light & airy and silky smooth. Plus it cut at least 5 minutes off my blow drying time! Love this stuff!”
Thanks Jennifer! Okay so after I tried the products I instantly had some favorites. I try so many products so often (the nature of my job lol) that I can usually decide right away if I’m going to like something. However I will say there are times when products actually surprise me. I think that is what I found this go around.
Dr. Brandt Skincare PoreDermabrasion Pore Perfecting Exfoliator : Using a face scrub or exfoliator is something I do at least every couple days. If you’ve read my Daily Skin Care Routine post you’ll see I’m a huge fan of Clairsonic so I try to alternate days that I use that and wash my face with a scrub/exfoilator. I really really liked this product for a couple reasons. The first one is the scent was clean, refreshing and kind of minty so it energizes you. It’s a great product to use first thing in the morning before you apply your moisturizer and sunscreen then makeup to get your skin’s texture looking smooth and canvas ready. The other thing is it’s extremely gentle for an exfoliator and it’s the only way to go to get the same results as the less gentle versions. (I’m going to be reviewing Dr.Brandt’s Oxygen Facial Flash Recovery Mask soon…stay tuned!)
L’Occitane En Provence Divine Cream : There are so many moisturizers and face creams out there how do we really know what works best? Well, sometimes you can’t ignore when something says “Best Seller” or “Beauty Awards Winner”. It simply just gives you a nod as to what you can look forward too after using the product. I have to say it definitely met those expectations. It is a luscious, creamy and silky moisturizer that I would continue to use after the sample runs out. It keeps skin smooth and it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy. It really is the perfect balance to keep skin hydrated but it also feels like your treating yourself (which you kind of are since a 1.7 oz is $108).
it’s a 10 miracle leave-in Lite : Honestly I had no plan of really using this product because my first impression was it wasn’t anything that special. Simple packaging and the name is not even that impressive. I was going to give it a try or two just to see what it was going to offer and that would be that. Well, let me tell you I’m kind of loving it. Funny how things can completely change that quick. I’ve been using it while my hair is damp and it has this very lightweight volume (hence the lite). I think this product is designed to help repair and restore hair while it prevents frizz and detangles. It’s kind of awesome…my hair is soft and silky but without any heaviness or buildup. I love it and super shocked that I love it this much.
