There are so many great cosmetics and skin care items available today. There are products to meet almost every consumer want and demand. Investing in them all can become overwhelmingly expensive however. That doesn’t mean you have to go without! There are several ways you can save money on beauty products.
Invest in Multi-Purpose Products – There are many beauty products on the market today that can be used for multiple things. This will allow you to invest in one product instead of two or three. For example, argan oil can be used as a conditioning treatment and a hair styling product. There are also some great tints on the market that double as both cheek and lip color.
Take Advantage of Samples – Many online stores like ULTA and Sephora provide free samples with each purchase. This is a great way to not only try new products, but also to get those luxury items you love but may be a little out of your budget. Though not as readily available as in previous years, samples are sometimes still available with in-store purchases as well. You will likely need to inquire with a salesperson.
Natural Alternatives – The key to saving with natural switches is to only invest in those products you know you will use in a timely manner. Many natural products have a short shelf life, and you will not be saving any money if you are throwing things away. As stated previously, choose products with multiple uses.
For an easy inexpensive hair clarifier, mix 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar into one cup of water. Another cheap fix is an avocado hair mask. Mix one ripe avocado, one egg yolk and one teaspoon of olive oil for a deep conditioning treatment that will rival salon treatments. Leave on for 30 minutes before rinsing.
Coupons and Savings Clubs – In addition to newspaper flyers and online coupons, see if your favorite store or brand has a loyalty program that will provide you with additional savings or free product. Even CVS has an ExtraCare Beauty Program that gives members discounts and rewards.
Return It – How many times have you purchased a beauty product only to get home and discover it wasn’t the great color you envisioned? Rather than throwing it in a drawer or the trash, try returning it. Even though these products cannot be resold, many stores will now allow returns or exchanges.
