According to the American Academy of Dermatology more than half of adult women and 40% of adult men suffer from acne. If that’s not discouraging enough, most acne products are designed for teens. And they have far different skin than we do.
Arithmetic has designed a new acne line made specifically for adults. It includes a lower dose of benzoyl peroxide (3%) making it less harsh and drying on adult skin.
The company kindly sent over two of their products for us to review; Acne Control Complex Spot Treatment and Konjac Exfoliating Sponge.
Have you tried a Konjac sponge yet? I have shied away from these up to this point because they look like rocks. As a matter of fact, they feel like rocks when dry. They have to be harsh and abrasive, right?
Wrong. These things are super cool. Once you get them wet they expand and turn really soft. I’m definitely adding these to my beauty arsenal. It works great for gently exfoliating the face and neck. And don’t forget the shoulders and chest with tank top weather coming.
The Acne Control Complex Spot Treatment is made with 3% benzoyl peroxide, tea tree oil and witch hazel. Those are a few of my favorite things. It also has shea butter and jojoba oil.
I hope you are not still of the mindset that you need to dry your skin out to prevent/heal acne. That isn’t the case. It can actually make things worse if you are out of balance. My own skin issues greatly improved when I started using a coconut oil moisturizer at night.
Because this is a lower dose of peroxide than most, it may take a little longer to see results than products directed at teens. But, you may be able to avoid the nasty dry, scaly, discolored spot that follows many breakouts treated with harsh products. And you can use this product long-term.
We are very happy with this product. And there are no there are absolutely no parabens, sulfates, added fragrances, antibiotics, or phthalates used in the product.
