We are all feeling a little busier and more rushed these days. Our beauty routines are often the first to suffer, and the first to let the outside world we’re under stress.
Today we have several makeup professionals stopping by to share their favorite simple beauty tips that make a big impact on your appearance. Instantly.
Baby Your Brows
Liz from Makeup Artistry, Inc. says, “One thing that can really transform the face is paying attention to the brows. So many women either neglect their brows all together or over tweeze/wax. Also as women get older, their brows become much thinner, leaving gaps throughout the brows. If a woman has completely neglected the brows, I often suggest they go and have a professional waxing to shape the brows. Shaped brows totally transform the face! For those who have sparse brows, I recommend using a brow shadow. I don’t usually use a pencil unless I need to create a sharpness to the brow. But a brow powder or an eye shadow that matches the natural brow color is miraculous! It instantly creates a fuller brow, which makes you look younger. You don’t need to cover the entire brow—just fill in any gaps and brush through with a [easyazon_link asin=”B008DLT9H8″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”beautyboxreview-20″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]spoolie brush[/easyazon_link] to distribute the powder.
Illuminate Your Skin
Mary Winkenwerder, Founder, Editor Ultimate Skincare & Beaute Report WebTV and Blog says, “Illuminating creams and fluides are your best friend on days when eyes are a bit darker than normal and when skin seems too lackluster.
For eyes: Gently dab on a bit of illuminating cream and fluide directly onto skin under the eye, at the corners, inner corners, below and above the brow from end to end. Blend into the skin, set and apply your makeup as normal.
For skin: Gently apply illuminating cream or fluide directly on the natural lower cheek line. Fill in the cheek with a sheer application of the luminous wonder potion and set. Apply in the crease between the chin and mouth. Move into your regular makeup regime and watch skin glow.”
Cool Down to Wake Up
Elysa Ross, Founder and CEO of got glam cosmetics and skincare recommends this great tip:
Keep moisturizer and/or foundation in the fridge. While sipping your morning coffee, apply chilled products for an instant energizer. Plus, the cold will help smooth away swelling and superficial wrinkles.
Makeup Artist Denise Del Russo says, “Take your favorite foundation and mix with a shimmery powder bronzer. With the end of one of your makeup brushes gently scrape out some bronzer into the palm of your hand then mix w/ a nickel size amount of foundation and apply all over face. This makes for instant, glowing beautiful skin. amount of foundation and apply all over face. This makes for instant, glowing beautiful skin.”
Denise also recommends blow drying your mascara wand before applying mascara. This will give you a perfectly curled lash to open up the eyes. Who knew?
It’s all in the Hair
Kim of Kim Laudati Skin Care and Laser in Manhattan has this tip for fabulous-looking hair when you are short on time, “tie two pony’s together! Tie a high pony and tie another just below it. Keep a decently thick strand out of the low pony and use this to wrap around both bases, giving the illusion they are one.”
And, “If hair is greasy and you’re in a rush, it’s the perfect time to smooth your hair back into a quick high bun. The heavier natural oils in your hair will automatically eliminate frizzies and this looks great on every face shape.”
Save Money and Time
I love this simple tip from Professional Mac Makeup Artist Abby Sparks. I have already altered my makeup routine because of it.
A quick and useful tip to save time and money is to apply your eye makeup before applying foundation or concealer. Fallout from your eye shadow will cause you to wipe of your concealer/foundation and have to reapply, therefore applying eye makeup first is saving you product which translates into savings.
It’s all in the Eyes
Jellaine Ross of Cherry Blooms Fiber Lashes offers the following strategy to brighten tired eyes:
- Apply white eyeliner on the lower rim of your eyes and on the top of the eyelids on the upper lash lines. (This is a special makeup secret that all the Victoria Secret angels use to make their eyes look even bigger & brighter)
- Apply a thin strip of black eyeliner on top of the upper lash line. (Can also apply on the lower lash line but not on the inner rim and not all the way to the inner corner of your eyes)
- Apply a light colour eyeshadow over the eyelids – eg. pearly white eyeshadow, peach, etc.
Celeste Hilling, CEO, Co-founder and Product Formulator for Skin Authority recommends being proactive, “I put my skin on a treadmill by resurfacing. You want your cells to turn over every day and resurfacing is the way to make this happen. I recommend using a natural resurfacing agent nightly, such as glycolic acid, to gently dissolve dead surface skin cells to be replaced with new, plump ones.
