We receive a ton of lip balm in our subscription boxes. Some are certainly better than others. One of our favorites this past year was a balm flavored like lemon drops. We loved it!
When I received my Premium Starter Kit from Young Living, Lemon was one of the Everyday Oils included. Other than simply dropping it into our water glasses I set out to find a few more recipes for this yummy citrus. When I stumbled upon a few lip balm recipes, I remembered our love of lemon drop and decided to try it for ourselves.
1/2 oz. Beeswax
1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
1/2 Tablespoon Cocoa Butter
1/2 Tablespoon Shea Butter
1 teaspoon honey
15 drops Lemon Essential Oil (the good stuff, this is going on your mouth)
Melt the beeswax, coconut oil, cocoa butter and shea butter in a double boiler (a glass bowl placed in 1-2 inches of water will work as well, keep the temp low and melt slowly).
Remove from heat and mix in your lemon essential oil quickly as this mixture will harden as it cools.
Pour into containers. This is a citrus oil so I’d stick with glass jars or metal tins. Citrus oils can melt some plastics.
Lemon oil is a great versatile oil. You can even use it as a substitute in the sugar scrub we made the other day. We also have some amazing DIY household cleaners made with this oil that we will be sharing in the upcoming days.
