Lavender is known as the Swiss Army Knife of essential oils. It’s versatile, commonly used and most people enjoy it quite a bit. Today we are sharing five bath & beauty uses for lavender essential oil.
Lavender Bath Salts
Nothing beats a nice relaxing soak in the tub…
- 1 cup Epsom salt
- 1/2 cup sea salt
- 10 to 15 drops of lavender essential oil
- 4-8 drops soap coloring, optional
Mix together well and store in a pretty jar. Let it rest for a day or two before using so the scent has time to permeate into the salts fully. Add a 1/4 c or so to your bath water. (Make sure you use soap coloring if choosing to do so. Food coloring can stain your tub.)
Eye Makeup Remover
The #1 question around here: how do you take off that waterproof mascara? I always recommend an oil-based cleanser. Always. Here is a homemade option.
- 1/2 c coconut oil
- 4-6 drops lavender oil
Mix it up well and store in a glass or high quality plastic container.
We have talked about coconut oil as an makeup remover in the past and this is a great mix for removing makeup before bedtime. Makeup gone, a little more relaxed, super soft skin.
- 1/3 cup super fine granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 4-5 tablespoons coconut oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
Mix it well and store in another one of your little glass jars. (You should probably invest in several these. If you live somewhere with cooler temps don’t worry if the coconut oil firms up a bit. I think it’s melting temp is around 75 degrees. As soon as you put it in your hand and start scrubbing it will melt right now.
Lavender Bath Milk
Some ladies prefer a bath milk to bath salts. It can be a little more moisturizing and soothing.
- 1 c powdered milk
- 1/2 c baking soda
- 1/2 c cornstarch
- 8-10 drops of lavender essential oil
Mix well and store in a glass jar. Add about a cup to your warm running bath water.
Lavender-Coconut Milk Body Wash
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 2/3 Dr. Bronner’s Baby-Mild castille soap
- 2 teaspoons vegetable glycerin
- 3 teaspoons sweet almond or jojoba oil
- 10 – 15 drops lavender essential oil
Mix well. I would recommend storing this one in a pump dispenser or a bottle with a lid that makes dispensing easy to control. It is a little on the thin side.
Lavender essential oil is great for a lot of other cool stuff as well.
- Diffuse it to promote more restful sleep.
- Mix it with coconut or massage oil for a relaxing massage.
