SheDangle is a new subscription box offering handcrafted earrings and a little inspiration each month. Today we are learning a little more about the story behind the box in addition to hosting a giveaway, review and fabulous discount.
SheDangle Interview
What made you decide to start a subscription box service?
I have always wanted a business that brought some sort of inspiration to other women. I run a blog that helps women entrepreneurs, but for some reason I got burned out on it and needed a break. During that time my mother was making beautiful jewelry pieces and it sort of clicked for me that I could bring a spark of inspiration through a beautiful box and new pair of earrings with a positive message each month. I also love the business model and thought it would be a rewarding family business, so that’s how the idea sparked. My mom and I started it together.
How did you choose your subscription niche?
I’ve always felt called to inspire women in some way, so for me this was easy. My niche is basically me; a woman with a family, work and a busy social life wanting something fun and beautiful to arrive each month that doesn’t require a bunch of time and effort.
How long did it take between idea and official launch?
It has taken me about 3-5 months to really get it going, mostly because of the limited time I had to devote to it for the first couple of months. Then it took some time to figure out packaging, shopping cart details, etc..so I’d say about 4 months.
How do you source the products that will be included each month?
This is always evolving and I’m sure it will continue to. I look online for quality earring findings and charms. I look on Etsy for smaller artists and even local craft outlets. We make the earrings in-house, but using charms and hooks that we find in various places. Sourcing great stuff is a big part of the fun.
What was your biggest surprise – good or bad – with your new business?
No big surprises yet, although it’s a new business and already feeling extremely rewarding. I opened one of our boxes to replace the contents inside and when I saw the polka-dot bag and earrings inside I actually felt giddy like a girl – my stomach did a flip! That was a surprise for me! I can only pray that my customers feel that way too when they open their box.
What would you change if you had to start over?
Nothing really! So far things are growing steadily and I’m feeling excited at where SheDangle is going. If anything, I guess I would’ve figured out my shopping cart issues before telling the world about it, but you learn these things as you go along :).
Where do you see your business five years from now? Any changes in the works?
I see big growth, additional goodies in each box and lots of inspiration dangling from shedangle customer’s ears! I don’t have big changes, but additions to the flagship box are coming up this fall. It’s very exciting.
SheDangle Review
As the photos throughout the interview have shown, this box was packaged neatly and truly felt like a gift box. Inside I found the organza bag with the earrings and a small black envelope with the inspirational message:
Self-confidence is the best outfit. Rock it and own it.
The earrings were a drop earring with silver and gold discs. The discs were engraved with “Hope” and “Dream.”
The earrings were great quality. I felt the price of the box was in-line with what it would cost to purchase these off Etsy or a similar handcrafted marketplace.
When signing up, you get to choose your preferences. Select silver or gold tone and earring size. You can also opt to “Mix It Up.”
Speaking of the price of the box, those are as follows:
- Monthly – $27/month (pay monthly)
- 3 months – $72 (pay quarterly – save $9)
- 6 months – $132 (pay every 6 months – save $30)
Every subscriber that stays on for 6 months gets a free gift (a cool jewelry box).

Disclosure: This box was provided to me for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
My favorite earrings are my girly skull studs.
I bet I would like those, Debra. 😉
My favorite earrings are a pair of CZ studs, I wear them most every day.
My favorite pair is just a classic, simple set of sterling silver studs
I love a pair of pearl earring my grandmother gave me.
I love a new anchor set I got this summer!
My favorite pair of earrings are sterling silver sea turtles.
Honestly, despite having double piercings in each ear, I don’t wear earrings often. Occasionally to dress up I’ll wear a dangly something with a stud in the top hole, but my absolute favorite pair is one I recently received as a gift. We refer to our 5-month-old daughter as Baby Z, so a dear friend gave me a gorgeous pair with the letter Z in a funky font.
My Favorite pair of Earrings are my Aurora Earrings that were my Aunts, and passed down to me.
My favorite earrings are my hoops that range from small to large because I have 7 piercings in one ear and 6 in the other so I get to wear multiple earrings 🙂
